Do you live within a 10 mile radius of Frankenmuth?  If so and you would like to allow a Hot Air Balloon to land or launch from your property, please place a white sheet on the spot starting Friday early morning until Monday afternoon.  Make sure your sheet can be seen from the air and when a Balloon Pilot sees it he knows you have given him permission to land. BORDER COLLIE SHEEP HERDING DEMONSTRATION

Location: River Place Shops Field Date: May 25 & 26, 2019 Time: 12:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. each day Back by POPULAR demand this event keeps large audiences in awe and amazement.  Different skill sets are demonstrated by various Border Collies based on their experience levels. Several kids from the audience are selected to try to do the herding job as well as one dog. The results are hilarious compared to the experienced precision work of the Border Collies.  A special fenced area with bleacher seating will be located in the River Place Field Shops adjacent to the Disc Dog area for this unique and fun event.  Two demonstrations held each day – Saturday and Sunday.

PET PARADE

Join us for the Pet Parade on Saturday, May 25, 2019!  This years King and Queen will be the Grand Marshals!  Beginning at 12:45 pm, dogs and their owners can line up in the south parking lot near the marquee of Frankenmuth River Place Shops.  No registration needed!  The parade kicks off at 1:00 p.m and will travel north on Main Street, cross the Wooden Covered Bridge and end at the Doggie Play Park on the east side of River Place Shops.  The King & Queen will be riding in a golf carts and then receive special recognition on the River Place Shops Fest Platz Stage at 1:45 pm.


ROCK-N-ROLL K-9′S PERFORMANCE TEAM

Location: River Place Shops Southeast Lawn Date: May 25 – 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 8:00 p.m. May 26 – 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. The Rock-N-Roll K-9′s provide good family fun entertainment with our awesome K-9′s, while grooving to rock and roll music. The shows will include flyball, tricks, relay racing, limbo, choreographed obedience routines, agility, Scooby says, musical mats and much more. You will see a variety of breeds in every color, shape, size and age, as well as the great All American Mix. These skilled athletes and their trainers work close together as a team and with everyone doing their utmost to make the Rock-N-Roll K-9 shows unforgettable. BEST CANINE COSTUME CONTEST

Location: Festival Platz Stage Date: May 5, 2019 Time: Immediately following the pet parade at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the Fest Platz Stage. Registration: No registration. Participants will be asked to line up in front of the stage for judging after the pet parade. Fee: No cost to register The public shows off their pooches with their “true colors shining through”.  5 finalists will be chosen by the judges and asked to join them on Stage.  The crowd will then be asked to cheer for their favorite dog in costume and based on the volume of the crowd’s applause the winners will be chosen.  Over $1,000.00 in Great Prizes for the Best Dressed Pooches, including Free Overnights at the Bavarian Inn Lodge.

POLICE K-9 DEMONSTRATION

Location: River Place Shops Field Date: May 25 & 26, 2019 Time: 11:00 a.m. & 4:30 p.m. each day 

The Saginaw Valley Police Canine Association a non profit and Blue Line Police K9 is pleased to announce another great year of demonstrations at Dog Bowl. 

 Join Saginaw Police Officers Doug Stacer, Brad Holp, Jon Beyerlein, Robert Adams and their K9 partners Nvee, Cigan, Mitch & Deebo as they demonstrate the exciting world of Police K-9’s. 

 Their demonstrations will consist of narcotics detection, handler protection, criminal apprehensions, article searches, and mock car chases with simulated gun fire with K9 deployment from their cruisers! 

 The entire event will be narrated by Retired Detroit Police K9 Handler & owner of Blue Line Police Canine John Skalski. He will talk about the extensive training and give you an inside look into the daily life of a working Police K-9. You may even be chosen from the audience to voluntarily participate in one of these events and get to meet these fury friends!

 The Saginaw Valley Police Canine Association provides funding & support for Law Enforcement Canines in Saginaw County. Established in 2012, the SVPCA has covered all expenses incurred by the Saginaw Police K9 program since 2013. Limited to one dog per breed This free Dog Show is both educational and fun.  The Grass Terrace at River Place Shops is where you will see over 20 breeds of beautiful dogs from around the world. PAWS WITH A CAUSE DEMONSTRATION

Location: Festival Platz Date: May 25 & 26, 2019 Time: 12:00 PM Have you ever wondered how Assistance Dogs help people with disabilities do what they want and need to do?  Wayland, Michigan-based Paws With A Cause® enhances the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities nationally through custom-trained Assistance Dogs.  During our demonstration, you will be able to watch a trained PAWS Assistance Dog in action, and learn more about these amazing dogs and the tasks they are trained to perform.

The annual Canine Cruise on the Cass River returns with the 2019 Dog Bowl! This unique tour of Frankenmuth takes places aboard the Bavarian Belle historic paddleboat, which docks at Frankenmuth River Place Shops.

Pets are not only welcome but encouraged on the Canine Cruise, which starts at 10 AM on both Saturday and Sunday during the Dog Bowl festival. Each tour lasts 45 minutes and includes a narrated history of Frankenmuth and plenty of photo opportunities with your pup!

Proceeds from the Canine Cruise go to Frankenmuth Dog Bowl Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission of advocating for responsible pet ownership through educational programs and world-class events, with a goal of being a recognized source of knowledge and entertainment for dogs and the people they love.

BARN HUNT

Barn Hunt is an exciting new dog sport sanctioned by AKC and UKC where dogs use their vermin hunting instincts to search through a course of straw bales and signal their owner when a rat target is found. The rat is encased in a secure tube and is not harmed in any way. At Dog Bowl, your dog will get a chance to try an Intro to Barn Hunt to see if it is a sport they might enjoy. Your dog will first meet a rat in an open cage. Then we will see if your dog can tell you, the owner, which of three tubes contains the real rat. Your dog will also get a chance to practice going through straw tunnels, and climbing on straw bales.
